THE
WAR IN UKRAINE
- A BRIEF ANALYSIS -
This paper is
politically neutral.
The
subject of this work is the armed conflict unfolding in Ukraine, focusing
primarily on analyzing the strategies of the two parties involved and the
execution of the land campaign. It also analyzes certain tactical aspects,
detailing how the employment of specific categories of military equipment has
fundamentally altered the battlefield and how the armed forces have adapted to
this phenomenon. A turning point in the use of certain weapons was observed in
this war, resulting in the emergence of many novel developments. Of particular
importance is the fact that the fortification chains in the Donbas represent a
central point of operations, shaping the strategic-level plans of the
belligerents. Breeching them stands as one of the most spectacular actions in
human military history.
In short, the analysis attempts to answer the
following questions:
-
Are there differences in
the military potential of the two belligerents?
-
What plans were devised?
-
Why did the F-16
arrive so late?
-
How were the partisan
operation plans rendered useless?
-
What are the Donbas
fortifications?
-
How were the land
operations conducted?
-
Why is the advance rate
of the Russian forces extremely slow?
-
How were the strongest
fortifications in the world breached?
-
Was the HIMARS
system a 'game-changer'?
- How has infantry tactics changed in the era of drones?
- What other states participated?
